Unified units of modular machines

Any manufacturer strives to ensure that the level of unification of the main components and mechanisms is as high as possible. It is with this approach that the layout and adjustment of the aggregate machine is simplified. At present, the level of unification reaches 90% or more. At the manufacturing plant, mass production begins after the development of a special project for each unit.
The device of the machine consists of four main groups of unified units.

Power nodes

These nodes include power heads and tables.
Power heads. With the help of this node, the spindle with the tool is fed. The head also gives rotational motion to the spindle. Multi-spindle modular machines are widely used, the manufacturer of which designs them in such a way that the main movement and feed movement are carried out simultaneously. Accuracy standards are determined by the power heads.
The power heads are supplied with their own electrical drive. The electrical circuit in the form of a main drive provides for electric motors. The wiring diagram also provides for control units, overload protection, signaling units.

Spindle units

Spindle assemblies include power headstocks and spindle boxes.
The modular machine can be set up in such a way that it can be turned into a conventional metalworking machine for a narrow purpose. This is achieved by installing appropriate spindle assemblies. For example:

  • if you use only one drilling headstock, then such a machine will turn into an aggregate drilling machine. Multi-spindle modular drilling machines are usually not used in small and medium-sized production, but in mass production, where it is necessary to perform many drilling operations on large workpieces, they are simply irreplaceable;
  • when installing milling heads, such a machine looks like an aggregate milling machine.

The basic nodes include: bed, column, thrust squares.

Transport nodes

This group of unified nodes includes dividing tables.

Technical documentation

The modular machine, the passport of which will be included in its technical documentation, is supplied to the supplier together with the drawings.
Technical documentation is also supplied with the machine.
The supplier is supplied with an aggregate machine, the drawing of which includes not only general diagrams, but also a detailed drawing of each unified unit.

The passport is the main technical document, which indicates specifications, safety rules, and most importantly, it contains instructions for operating this machine.

The passport of the machine, in addition to the drawings, also contains electrical and kinematic diagrams. The passport is drawn up according to unified approved forms.
The disadvantage of modular machines is that they can only be used in large-scale and mass production.
