How to make a background image in power point. How to set an image as the background in a PowerPoint presentation

A PowerPoint presentation is one of many tools for visually complementing an oral presentation in front of a group of people. Sometimes it requires a unique design that is not present in the program initially. There are many ways in such a presentation to make your own background and add new templates. How to do this, this article will tell.

Adding a Presentation Template from the Microsoft Office Site

The main tool for change appearance a document created with PowerPoint - built-in themes. They are quite universal, but sometimes their design does not fit the topic of the report. In this case, you can add other templates by downloading them from the official Microsoft website. To do this in PowerPoint 2007 or 2010, you need:

  • Go to the "Design" tab and fully expand the list of all available themes.
  • At the bottom of the new menu, select the sub-item "More themes ...".
  • In the browser window that opens, select the desired design in one of the categories and go to the download page.

  • On it, click the "Load\Save" button and select a location to save the template.

To permanently add a new template to PowerPoint 2007, you need to:

  • Run the first step from the previous algorithm.
  • Select the "Search for themes" item and open the previously downloaded template in the Explorer window.

  • Select "Save Current Theme" from the drop-down menu.

  • In the new window, without changing the settings, click the "Save" button.

These two algorithms are the first way to make your background in a presentation.

Image use

Sometimes it is required that a company logo or a state flag be present in the background of a slide. You can achieve this result by using a picture. The way to make your background in the presentation using it is as follows:

  • You need to open the "Format Background" window. This can be done in two ways. First: right-click on the sheet and select the menu sub-item of the same name. Second: in the "Background" section of the "Design" tab, click on the "Styles" button and go to the "Background Format" subsection.
  • In the window that opens, in the "Fill" section, check the box next to the line: "Picture or texture."
  • Click on the "File" button to use your own image or "Clip" for embedded.

  • In the second sub-block, you can adjust the position, size and transparency of the background image on the slide.

Note. If the dialog box is invoked with the RMB, then the new background will only be used on that slide. When using the tool ribbon, the image will be added to all existing and added sheets.

The third way: filling the shape

It allows you to place a background image in any part of the sheet with the required dimensions. The algorithm for how to make your background in a presentation using a shape is as follows:

  • Insert any shape using the button of the same name in the "Insert" tab.

  • Edit its parameters using the "Format" button.
  • Right-click on the shape and select "Format Shape\Picture" from the context menu.

  • In the dialog box, go to the "Fill" subsection and follow step number 3 from the second method.

You can additionally change the image parameters by switching to the "Picture" section. It contains tools for adjusting the brightness, contrast and color range (the "Recolor" button) of the picture.

All 3 ways to make your own background in a PowerPoint 2007 presentation can be used in newer versions of this application.

Imagine the following situation: you are making a presentation, you have chosen a suitable theme for design from the list, the desired font for the text, but the background of the selected theme is not very suitable and I would like to change it. If this is a children's presentation - put bright balloons, if it refers to nature - choose a field with flowers and a lake, and if you represent the goods of a company - you can put its logo as a background.

In this article, we will look at how to make the picture you want as a background in a PowerPoint presentation, and how you can change the transparency of the picture on the slide selected as the background.

We'll start with change template in PowerPoint. This will be especially useful for those who plan to repeatedly use the selected image as a background for various presentations.

Open the presentation and go to the tab "View". Now in a group "Sample Modes" click on the button "Slide Master".

Select the first slide, right-click on it and select from the context menu "Format Background".

The corresponding dialog box will open. On the "Fill" tab, put a marker in the field "Pattern or Texture". You can choose one of the offered textures as a background. The result will be immediately visible on the slides.

To make the background of the slide a picture that is stored on your computer, in the "Insert from" field, click on the button "File". Using Explorer, find the desired image on your computer and click "Insert". The background of the slides in the presentation will change.

If you found a suitable image on the Internet, then you can also make this image a background for slides in PowerPoint. Open the image in full size, right-click on it and click "Copy". So we'll put it on the clipboard.

We return to the dialog box "Format Background" and click on the button "Clipboard". The background in the presentation will change.

As a background, you can also choose any picture from the PowerPoint collection. In the "Format Background" dialog box, click on the button "Picture", then select one of the proposed images and click "OK".

After you select the desired image as the background for the presentation, click "Close". To return to the familiar view for working with the presentation, on the "View" tab in the group "Presentation View Modes" click "Normal".

So, we have changed the template for the presentation. Now consider how save template with selected image as background in powerpoint.

Go to the "Design" tab, expand the list of available themes and select "Save Current Theme".

The saved theme with the desired slide background will be available in the general theme list. When creating a new presentation, you just need to select it.

If you need make a background for one slide in powerpoint, using the selected image, select the desired slide with the mouse, right-click on the background and select from the menu "Format Background".

Now select a picture or picture for the background of the presentation, as described above, and click "Close". Change the background only for the selected slide.

Pushing a button "Restore background"- the old background for the slide will return by clicking "Apply to all"- the selected picture will be set as the background for all presentation slides.

To change the background, for example, only from the second to the fifth slide, select the second slide, press "Shift" and select the fifth. To select slides that are not adjacent, hold down "Ctrl" and select them one by one: 2, 3, 5. Right-click on any selected slide and select "Format Background" from the menu. Then do everything as described in the article.

Once you've made the right picture the background for the slides in your presentation, you may need to tweak it a bit. Let's see how we can make a transparent background in powerpoint and not only.

You can change the transparency of a background, picture, or picture in the Format Background dialog box. Select the desired slides and open the specified dialog box. On the Fill tab, in the Transparency field, move the slider to the desired position.

You do not need to select all slides for the changes to be applied to them, after all the settings, just click "Apply to all".

On the tab "Picture Adjustment", you can change the sharpness, brightness, and contrast. On the Picture Color tab, you can adjust the saturation and hue.

Making a picture or drawing a background in a PowerPoint presentation is not that difficult. In addition, you can save the customized template with the desired background and use it in all subsequent presentations. If your image is too bright, change the transparency of the background so that the audience is not distracted by it and can properly perceive the information presented in the slides.

  1. With the "Format Background" command, the program stretches the image to cover the entire slide. And how to reduce the size of the image by area, as if we were dragging the corner of the image? I need the image to fit into the template, otherwise it is large. I reduced the size of the image in Photoshop, but it still stretches to the entire sheet.

Hello friends! Let's continue to analyze the features of Power Point. Today we will take a closer look at how you can make a background for slides in our presentation. The toolkit of the program provides a fairly wide range of choices. You can choose backgrounds from the sets included in the package, you can try to make original ones from your photos or from the Internet

The background in the presentation can be selected immediately when creating a document. When you open the program, you are prompted to select themes and templates that are included in the package:

By choosing any of these templates, we will get a presentation designed in the chosen style. The program even provides an opportunity to search for ready-made sets of templates on the Internet.

How to add a background to a presentation from the web?

To find a ready-made template, you need to try to drive in the topic of interest to us in the search bar. Here is what I got when I entered the word "flowers":

You can try to look for layouts on other topics. My impression is that it is either empty or dense. Some topics are in abundance, on the other there is nothing worthwhile.

The main advantage of ready-made templates is that you do not have to think about the design of the style and background, there are already ready-made sets. There are also disadvantages - among the ready-made sets there may not be one that would suit you. And if you want to do something original, then you have to come up with something of your own.

As a background, you can choose your favorite pictures from the Internet. It all depends on the theme, your mood and creative ideas. It is important to remember that the properties of images are very different. And in order for the photo not to be cut off, not stretched, an image of 800x600 pixels in size is suitable for the background. After downloading the images, you will most likely have to resize them to the desired size.

And at the same time use third-party programs. I will use photoshop, it has a lot of simple tools to create an original background. How else you can upload a background to a slide from the Internet will be discussed in the following chapters.

How to make your own background image in a presentation?

Let's try to do something of our own, well, or almost our own. I found some pictures and opened them in photoshop. We will try to make a background from a picture using the tools of this program. First, let's change the size by going to the menu "Image" - "Image Size":

Change the size to 800x600. We do not try to change the proportions, this leads to distortion, stretching of the photo. Just enter "800", and the program will automatically calculate and set the height of the image:

If the image on the screen has been reduced to an unusually small size, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + to increase the image or Ctrl - if you have gone too far with the increase. This does not affect the size of the image, but it was done in order to be able to work with individual sections of the photo.

Having made the settings, we proceed directly to creating the background. To do this, there is a whole set of tools called "Filters":

Watch the video on how you can use filters to make a blank for the background from a photo:

Adding a Powerpoint Background to One Slide

In order to add a background, open an empty presentation:

Right-click to open the context menu:

We mark first "Pattern or texture". Select "Add image from source":

And then you can find the saved file that we previously edited in Photoshop, or paste the copied screenshot from the clipboard, or find more pictures on the Internet. There are two ways to do this in the program - through the Bing search engine or through the One Drive cloud. We have the first option:

By the word in the search line, all images with the tag are selected. Therefore, through this mode, you can find much more high-quality images on various topics. Having selected an interesting image (ticking it), press the "Insert" button and here we have a slide with a background:

Add a background to the next sheet. First, let's add a new blank slide:

Then we repeat the process - we call the context menu, select a picture from the Internet in the same way, only we select another similar picture:

Our second slide will look different, but the overall style of the presentation is the same:

In this way, you can make your own background for each slide separately. By the way, it happens to me that pictures from the Internet are loaded with errors or the third time. If it doesn’t load for you either, you can first expand the picture to full screen, take a screenshot and paste the presentation through the clipboard.

We make a background from an image on all slides

We just added a separate background to each slide. Usually the background on all slides is the same. If you want to do this, it's very easy. On the example of our photoshop photo I will show. Also on the first slide we call the context menu:

... and select the background format "Pattern or texture", then select our saved photo through the "File":

In order for our background to be the same for all slides, click the "Apply to all" button:

Now all slides will have the same image:

How to make a transparent background in powerpoint?

Finally, I'll tell you how to make the background transparent. If the image was made in Photoshop, then you can set the transparency at that stage. And in the Power Point program, transparency is regulated there in the background settings with a special slider called "Transparency":

You can make the background completely transparent. And you can adjust the transparency, both separately for each slide, and for all at once. In this article, I have only talked about the most simple ways background selection. The program has a very powerful toolkit for working with the background - fills, texture effects, drawings. If you experiment, you can make the original background. I wish you success!

Hi all! It is quite difficult to imagine a high-quality presentation in Power Point, which will be remembered by other people and, at the same time, will be located on a standard “blank” background.

Therefore, either you have to make it very interesting content, or else make it more attractive by adding or changing the background image, which we are going to do now.

In fact, there are quite a few methods by which you can change the background in presentations. Moreover, each of them differs in its complexity and ease of use.

When choosing a method, you should mainly focus on the presentation itself - on its style and so on. So let's get started.

Method 1 - Design Adjustment

This method can be called the simplest of all that we will consider today. This is due to the fact that the steps described below must be done before filling the presentation with content.

1) Go to the "Design" section, which is located in the top toolbar.

2) Actually, in this section you will be able to notice all the template design options that were added by the developers. Moreover, each of them differs not only in style, but also in the background image.

3) Here you need to choose the color that best suits your presentation in terms of meaning, or according to your inner feeling. As soon as you select one of the options, the design will be changed for all slides.

In case you want to change the background for any reason, you can do it in a similar way. The content of the page will be automatically adjusted to the design you have chosen, and the already created slides will not be affected in any way.

This method is quite simple, but if you want to change the color of only one slide, then you should resort to using another method.

Method 2 - Manual Adjustment

In the case when you want to make the background more attractive, and in the “Design” section all the options seem boring and of the same type to you, then we will have to “help ourselves” and make all the adjustments manually. To do this, do the following:

1) To go to the section we need, you can use two ways - either click on an empty slide and from the context menu switch to the “Background format ...” section ...

2) If this does not suit you, then go to the "Design" section and then go to the same section as in the previously described step.

3) Now you will be transferred to the "Background Format" section. In this section, you can specify any method of designing the "background" that you like. As you can see, the list here is much wider - you can customize color scheme, or even insert your own drawing.

4) If you have a picture on your computer that you want to use as a background, then here you need to select the “Pattern or texture” item, and then click on the “File” button a little lower.

Now you will be taken to the standard Windows file manager, where you need to find the desired picture.

It should be noted that you need to choose an image from the parameters of your presentation, that is, the aspect ratio of the image should be 16:9 if you want everything to work properly.

5) You can also notice a few more buttons below - “Restore Background”, for example, deletes the image you uploaded and returns the background to the default, and the “Apply to All” button will replace the background of all slides with the one you choose automatically.

This method is also quite simple, but at the same time, its scope is much more extensive than that of the previous method. And we're moving on.

Method 3 - Using Templates

This method, like the previous one, can be called multifunctional, since its scope is also quite extensive.

1) From the top toolbar, we need to switch to the "View" section.

2) From here we need to switch to the template editing tab. To do this, click on "Master Slide".

3) Now the section where we can work with templates will start. Here you can either create your own layout (the "Insert layout" button) or correct the one that already exists. The best option here would be to create a new template, as this will allow you to maximize
personalize it.

4) After that, just like in the method described earlier, we need to switch to the "Background Format" section and configure the necessary parameters there.

5) In addition, you can use the software tools that are located in the top toolbar. In this section, you can both edit some individual layout detail and set its general tone.

6) Once you've finished creating the template, you'd better come up with a name for it. To do this, click on the "Rename" button and enter the invented name.

7) So now we have finally completed our layout. Now you need to click on the "Close Sample Mode" button in order to switch to the normal presentation mode.

8) Now we can apply the created template wherever we want. To do this, switch to the slide we need, call the context menu by right-clicking and select "Layout" in the section that appears.

9) After you go to the tab, where you can see all currently available templates, including the one we just created.

10) We select the template we need here, and after that the slide will be converted.
This method may be suitable for you when you want to make several groups of slides that will have different background images. Or you just want to change the background of just one slide.

Method 4 - Paste an image in the background

This method is mainly used only by beginners, but it would be a crime not to mention it.
1) First you need to load the image we need into the utility. To do this, go to the "Insert" section and in the "Images" section, click on the "Pictures" item.

A presentation is a necessary thing in almost any industry. It is used in education, and at meetings in any manufacturing company, when showing a new clothing line, and so on.

Presentations may not only look like we are used to watching them. They can be not only computer-based, but also pass with a felt-tip pen in hand in front of a large poster. But today we will pay attention to only one form of presentations, or rather, our question will sound like this: how to change the background in PowerPoint?

Why do we choose this software product? It's simple, Microsoft gave us a very powerful free tool that synchronizes with other tools in the Microsoft Office package, which greatly simplifies our work with this software product. In addition, PowerPoint is the most intuitive and easy to use tool. Even an inexperienced user will work with the product with interest and will not experience any inconvenience and difficulties if he gets to know it a little closer. What we are planning to do now.

So how do you change the background in PowerPoint? The first thing we start our work with is the selection of a good, high-quality, and most importantly suitable image, which is used as the background of our presentation. It is important to understand that in our work slides can be either with the same background or change as needed. Let's get started!

solid color

Often, especially if the presentation must look strict, solid colors are used. Many moderate design themes can be found in the standard set of PowerPoint, but we still consider: how to change the background to solid in PowerPoint, that is, fill the entire slide with one color.

This method is often used when it is necessary to highlight written words. This is pretty easy to do. You need to right-click on the slide you want to "fill" and select "Format Background". After that, select "Fill". We have a small window where we need to select the desired color, and the job is done.

In addition, we see a small “Transparency” slider, by default it is set to 0 percent, which means that the background transparency will be zero, if this does not suit you, then simply adjust as you wish by moving the slider.

Next, we need to determine whether all slides should have this background or just this one. When you have decided, click one of the buttons: “Close” or “Apply to all”. We looked at how to change the background to solid in PowerPoint, but there are other design options. about them right now.

Gradient

How to change slide background in PowerPoint to gradient? Remember when we filled with a solid color, we chose the option "Solid fill", but there were other options offered. One option is a gradient fill.

After we have selected this item, options appear. If you want to use the standard sets of the software, then you should click on the "Preset gradients" item and select the one that suits you best.

But you can customize the color scheme yourself. To do this, for each point of the gradient, you must set the desired color. Set the value to "Brightness" and correctly position all the points at the distance from each other that you think they should be. Further, all our actions are duplicated, as in the “Fill” paragraph: set the transparency and close it, or apply it to all slides. How to change the background of a slide in PowerPoint using a gradient, we have covered. Let's move on to the drawings.

Picture

In a presentation, absolutely any image can be used as a background. How to change the background in PowerPoint to a picture, consider right now.

The actions are similar to the previous ones: we right-click on the slide and call "Format Background", only this time we select "Picture or Texture". After these steps, a variety of pasting options will appear: from computer memory, from the clipboard, or directly from the Internet.

Watermark

Moving on to our last question: how do I change the background in a watermarked image? Why is it needed at all? Typically used to add a company logo or important images. It is important to know that the watermark must be translucent.

To do this, we need to add an image to the slide, as we have already described, and increase the transparency of the picture, that's all the tricks.
